This 4 hour Intro to Retention course is meant to introduce the student to retention shooting, also called contact shooting. The roots of this shooting method stems from the idea of having to retain your pistol from a potential threat within an arm’s length away. This course teaches and guides the student through the process of drawing and properly indexing the pistol safety and point shooting from the hip as per IDPA rules. The student reinforces what was learned during the class/dry fire instruction and puts them to use on the range while shooting various strings of fire. We start with single threat engagements, and build up to a multiple threat engagements in a controlled environment. This course is suited for the novice recreational and competitive shooter along with L.E. professionals.
