ABOUT ME

A lifelong resident of the Greater Toronto Area, I began my involvement in competitive shooting in 2006 through the Canadian Defensive Pistol (CDP) discipline. Since then, I have taken an active leadership role in the organization and execution of competitive shooting events at local, provincial, and national levels. This has included establishing and managing matches at my home range in Gormley Ontario, as well as providing instruction from basic holster safety to advanced firearm techniques for people of varying skill sets. In 2010, I spearheaded the ranges transition from CDP to the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), aligning our practices with internationally recognized standards and enhancing the club’s commitment to excellence and competitive integrity.

I hold post-secondary credentials in Personal Safety and Security, as well as Asset Security & Risk Management. My qualifications on the range include certifications as a Club Level Range Safety Officer, CSSA Range Safety Officer, CDP Range Safety Officer and Instructor, and IDPA Safety Officer (SO) and Chief Safety Officer (CSO). I have completed advanced firearms training courses in both Canada and the United States, covering areas such as precision rifle, carbine, low-light pistol, and close-retention shooting.

To date, I have officiated hundreds of matches and firearms training events. My competitive experience spans local, provincial, and national levels in both pistol and 3-gun disciplines, earning consistent top rankings. I am also a sponsored shooter, supported by leading brands in the industry. One of my proudest achievements is mentoring and developing talent within the sport, which has contributed to the launch and expansion of shooting sports across Southern Ontario.

In addition to firearms instruction, I offer specialized professional services in active attacker and threat mitigation. This includes developing and delivering training programs focused on organizational preparedness, threat recognition, and response. My approach blends best practices and proven strategies and combines them with scenario-based training tailored to civilian, corporate, and institutional settings. With a background in security and risk management and extensive experience in firearms instruction, I provide a practical, informed perspective on violence prevention, response, and community preparedness. I’ve worked with stakeholders across government, healthcare, education, and private industry to strengthen resilience against high-impact threats.

FAQ's

The majority of our courses are hosted at Target Sports Canada in Gormley, Ont.  We have hosted courses at Sharon Gun Club and we would be willing to travel to a range near you. If you have any questions about hosting a course at your range please email us.

No, I am not law enforcement or military. Being former law enforcement or military doesn’t make or break an instructor or his or her credibility. To me it is a prospective and many instructors have different prospectives or ‘tools’ they can offer and pass on to people who want to become better shooters. You should take courses from different instructors and build on your tool kit to draw from. Every instructor has something to add, and no one instructor has everything. I have been fortunate enough to run a shooting league weekly since 2007. This has helped improve my skill level over the years to the point I have been consistently ranked Top 3 in club and sanctioned matches which has helped in obtaining sponsorship deals for myself and the league as a whole.

Yes. The foundational principles in all our courses we offer build on shooting elements of IDPA as a competitive shooting discipline. You can learn a lot from competitive shooters, and it does help there is an element of ‘practicality’ to this specific shooting discipline. This not only benefits the recreational and competitive shooter, but the ‘practicality’ translates over to skill sets neglected by basic level LE and military training. Over the years we have worked with and hosted private courses for members of LE agencies and military units wanting to build on their training and fill in gaps where they feel there is a lack of training.

My go to is a Gen 3 Glock 19 with night sights, Apex Trigger and S3F solutions barrel (IDPA division ESP). I also occasionally use a Gen 3 Glock 26, completely stock (IDPA division CCP).

In all honesty, get a firearm you are comfortable with. That’s first and foremost. Personally, I am partial to the more modern safe action pistols like Glock and S&W. They are chosen for a reason in police and military contracts all over the world, and that is their ease of use, simplistic action, and reliability. I suggest keeping it simple when you are starting out.

Woah, woah, woah, you just got your firearm!

Get to know your firearm, break it in, and get a feel for it in its ‘stock’ form. When you have become proficient with it, you can start looking at things like a crisper trigger or upgraded barrel. I’m being honest when I say, I can shoot my stock Glock 26 just as fast and consistently as my Glock 19 with upgraded barrel and trigger. There is NO modification that will make you as an individual a better shooter. That takes time on the range. If you want to upgrade something we would suggest upgrading your stock sights to a night sight; and for that we would recommend Ameriglo night sights.

If forced to pick, it would be Bravo Concealment Holsters. There are cheaper ones, and YES there are more pricey ones. I feel Bravo Concealment makes a quality holster at a reasonable price. They are an innovative company always improving on design and functionality and best of all they always have a sale or promotion on. They are located in Texas but don’t let the exchange rate discourage you. For the price of a ‘Fobus’ holster you can obtain a custom kydex holster for the same cost.
